Question

My only income for 2020 was in the form of unemployment benefits totaling $15,200. I had no other income, but Turbotax shows my AGI as $18,591. Why?

The only other value entered in my federal income information was a non-taxable state tax refund of $78. I was a student in 2020 and also received non-taxable grants. Why is my AGI higher than my gross?

In the summary section under "Why is my total income $18,891?" the response was:
"Your total income of $18,891 comes from adding up your state and local taxable refunds of $0, the $-10,200 of other income, your unemployment of $15,200, and the $13,891 you earned at your jobs."

$15,200 being the unemployment
-$10,200 being the unemployment deduction
$13,891 - I have no idea where this number is coming from

Issue was resolved. I had not entered my tuition so that number was from the grants I had received that were then counted as income.
