Thank.   The question should have been frontline worker pay in Minnesota and word bonus should have not been in the question is 1099 MISC the correct way to report?

Yes, it is the correct way to report if you received a 1099 MiSC. I did some addtional research and this type of income is not subject to FICA taxes because it is classified as other income.  I read this on this Minnesota State website. This is accomplished by stating that you did not have an intent to earn money when that question is asked.

Tif you did not receive a 1099 MiSC, report it as other income. by doing the following.

  1. Go to federal>income and expenses>all income>>show more
  2. Less Common Income> Start
  3. Miscellaneous Income,>start
  4. Other reportable income>start
  5. Next screen asks Any Other Taxable Income>yes
  6. The next screen will allow you to report the income with a brief explanation.
  7. Call it Minnesota front line worker pay and then list the amount.

Yes. The Minnesota Frontline Worker Bonus is taxable on your federal return, but is not taxable by Minnesota.

Here’s how to enter your Minnesota Frontline Worker Pay in TurboTax.

Where do I enter in the information here stating that I did in fact received the Frontline Worker Pay. It should be on line 8 of Federal. where are the line numbers?

To add Minnesota Frontline Worker Pay to federal:

  1. Select Federal in the left column
  2. Tap Wages & Income
  3. Scroll down to Less Common Income
  4. Select Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
  5. Select Other reportable Income
  6. Say Yes to “Any Other Taxable Income”
  7. On “Other Taxable Income,” enter MN Frontline as the description and the amount

To remove Minnesota Frontline Worker Pay from your MN return:

  1. Continue in Minnesota until you see the screen “Frontline Worker Pay”
  2. Enter the Payment Amount (Do not enter an amount unless the payment was included in your federal income)

When you enter, it is in the Income section for:
Less Common Income
Miscellaneous Income, 1099-A, 1099-C
Scroll all the way to the bottom of the list and use Other reportable income

If you enter it in Other reportable income, it will not require an EIN.
