Question

If I rec'd RMD for year as lump sum prior to moving from VA, is the entire amount taxable on Virginia state return or can I prorate it over the 12 month year?

took lump sum distribution for the year in February while visiting in FL but decided in May to not return to VA due to health issues.  As I use Turbo Tax, it prorates the exemptions but not the RMD.  Can I prorate the RMD or is it all taxable in VA as I received before changing residency?

If you received your RMD as a lump-sum while a Virginia resident, you should report the total amount on your Virginia return.
