I took a survey and was paid for it, is this taxable income? I did not get a 1099 from the company.

The survey was for a research company. I let them examine my car, and answered some questions. Then they let me drive a newer car, and told me to find things on the dashboard controls. They time you to see how quickly you can find things and make them work. It is research for developing new technology for automobiles. The survey took two days. It seems like I was reimbursed for my time and travel, and this is not income.

This income should be reported under miscellaneous income. The company was not required to send you a form 1099-misc if you earned less than $600. Follow the directions below to input your survey income.

Log in and click take me to my return (unless already in).
Click the Federal tab from the left side of the screen. (Personal under TurboTax Home & Biz)
Click the Wages & Income tab at the top of the screen.
On the next screen, scroll down to Less Common Income.
Click to see more and click Start beside Miscellaneous Income.
Scroll down and click on Other Reportable Income.
You are now on the screen where you can enter the description and amount of income.
