Question

I have 2 duplicate 1099-r. I turned 59.5 in the middle of the year so one is 6 months before and one is for after. It keeps saying i have to delete one. any advise?

They should have different box 7 codes.

One should be coded "2" (I think...was for me when I reached 59.5)

The other should be coded "7"

IF that doesn't work...then the software folks are trying to prevent people from double-entering 1099-R forms, and if the $$ are exactly the same, they kick it out as a duplicate.

 IF that is the case here, try increasing boxes 1 and 2a by $1 on one, and drop boxes 1 & 2a by $1 on the other.

These should have different codes in box 7 (one with code 1 and the other with code 7).  Although TurboTax flags these as possible duplicates despite the differing codes, you should be able to ignore that warning and continue.  If TurboTax will not allow you to continue, you could try changing one of the dollar values on one of the Forms 1099-R by $0.01 so that the value still rounds to the same whole dollar amount.
