I am on social security and they ask what the federal id tax is for them but social security doesn't have one is it my social security number

what do I do when they want a tax id number for employer social security does not show one am I suppose to use my ssn number?

Do not try to enter your SSA1099  or RR1099RB as a W-2.  Go to Federal> Wages & Income>>Retirement Plans and Social Security  (SSA1099 and 1099RRB) to enter your SSA1099.
