Question

How much income equals one Social Security Credit and how soon will the IRS inform SS of my credits?

Hello all, hope all is well.

I'm 2 Social Security credits short from filing for retirement.

So I started a business last year so I could make enough money to earn the credits.

My question is how much do I need to make to earn these 2 credits and how soon will the IRS send the data to Social Security so I can file for retirement?

Ive looked at the SS Site and its confusing as to if the income counted is net or gross and there is nothing about how soon the credits will be posted.

Thanks in advance.

Doug.

Thank you for the info, I was hoping that I had made enough last year to ear the 2 credits I'm short and it looks I did according to your post.

I just wish I could find out how soon the IRS sends the data to SS so I can file.

I'm on a fixed CalPers retirement income and I just got stuck with a $263 a month increase on my Medical.

So I really need to retire so I can get re-negotiate the Medical Plan from CalPers.

    Thanks.
