Question

Error form 1040 line 12b-elective deferrals to qualified plans. TurboTax is not allowing "Catch-ups for employees with 15-years of service" limit of additional $3000.

Unable to file return. TT says limit is $24500 but my company is qualified to allow  "Catch-ups for employees with 15-years of service" limit with additional $3000 which would make the total $27500.  Box 12b from my W2 states $27500.  How to express on TT form.  TT gives error message in final review.

This seems to be a new check on a recent update since I have not seen the issue before a few days ago.
I have a lounge thread about it but no Moderator has responded,
There is this TurboTax FAQ.

I've read the FAQ and it not address the issue since I do not expect to remove the extra $3000.  TT needs to allow those that are qualified to have the $3000 "15 year service catch up" in the amount in 12b box - especially since this is allowed via the employer.

The issue in the FAQ is that you cannot e-file with that error reguardless of the reason - it simply will not let you.

This problem has been reported.  At present, the only workaround is to file by mail.
