Solved

Early distribution. I met the age conditions of the plan of service conditions of the plan. Just like it did in previous years when I filed with TurboxTax.

There is no where that question is asked.

Depending on the code in Box 7 of your 1099-R, you will see different questions.

If the Distribution Code is 7, Normal Distribution, and you received periodic payments, you won't see any questions, and you won't have an early distribution penalty.

If the Distribution Code is 1, Early Distribution, no known exception, you will proceed answering questions until you reach the screen These Situations May Lower Your Tax Bill (see the screenshot). I have highlighted the boxes that may pertain to you.

Please respond here with details about your retirement plan and your 1099-R if you need further assistance.

I thought the amount owed for federal had something to do with my NYS retirement.  I don't understand why I owe again this year when I had my employer deduct extra money ($960) for federal taxes.
