Leverage less income due to Covid

Hello, I am a US citizen living and working in India with my wife plus two kids. For 2020 I could work only for the month of Jan and earned 1700$ + may be 1200$ more due to freelance work. I am the only working member and we file our return as a married filing joint. I am looking to have earned income under 3000$ for 2020.

So keeping in mind an expat like me or a working person in USA, could anyone suggest what opportunities such as IRAs, rental properties or anything else I could leverage when I have less income ONLY this year.
