I separated active duty military at the end Mar 2016. Under personal info do I list my military HOR as residence or where I lived from Apr-Dec 2016?

I am not sure if I am supposed to list my military HOR as California or where I lived the most in 2016 as a civilian from Apr-Dec which was District of Columbia.

On the Your personal info screen for number 2,  from the drop down list you will choose your state of residence on December 31, 2016 (District of Columbia).  Answer Yes to the I lived in another state question and enter California for your previous state of residence and the dates when you changed your residency.

You will need to file part-year returns for California and the District of Columbia.
