I’m a member of the military and a resident of the state of Pennsylvania. I don’t pay state taxes because of this. My wife and I live in Hawaii. Does she pay Hawaii or Pennsylvania state tax

It depends.

If she meets the requirements of the Military Spouse Residency Relief Act (MSRRA) as outlined in the link below, she may only be taxed in her resident state.

Military spouse earnings - MSRRA

If she moved to Hawaii to be with you from Pennsylvania, how she filed depends upon the type of income she has.  See the link below for more details for Hawaii and Pennsylvania as her filing requirement does depend upon your particular situation.

Hawaii filing as resident or nonresident

PA filing for military spouse

If you need further clarification, please comment with her type of income and what her state of residence was prior to you moving to Hawaii.
