That is likely correct. If you are active duty military and your home of record is Ohio but you were stationed elsewhere during the tax year, you will probably not be required to pay Ohio school district income tax on your military pay since that pay is deductible on your Ohio tax return. However, you may owe Ohio school district tax if you have any non-military income that was earned in Ohio.

The Ohio Department of Taxation recommends that members of the military file Form SD100 if your legal residence is located in an Ohio school district with an income tax even if there is no  school district income tax liability.

Thank you.  I am finding it tricky to get the sd100 form to say owing zero in turbo tax so I can print and mail it in.  Any tips?

Here are instruction on how to complete the Ohio school district tax Form SD 100 showing zero income in TurboTax Online since you are a member of the military stationed outside of Ohio:

1. Go to State from the left menu, then Edit or Continue the Ohio tax return

2. On the summary page of the Ohio tax topics, select Ohio School District Taxes

3. Check the box I need to file a school district return for another reason then Continue

4. Enter the school district number

5. On the screen Residency for School District XXXX check the box Did not live in this school district

Because you were stationed in Florida and did not live in Ohio in 2025, this selection will make the SD 100 a zero income form

6. Print Form SD 100 and mail to:

School District Income Tax
P.O. Box 182389
Columbus, OH 43218-2389

The form is not eligible for electronic filing because it does not show dates of residency in the school district.
