Question

Why is Turbo Tax 4562 adding AMT depreciation and Current (straightline) depreciation together?

I am looking at Form 4562 of my 2025 return in progress.

The Current Depreciation number is too high on the Depreciation and Amortization Report. It correctly shows the Cost of the Rental Property (mixed use); the Business Use % (different every year); the resulting Depreciable Basis; and Prior Depreciation. But the Current Depreciation, instead of being $1871 (the depreciable Basis/27.5) it appears to be the sum of $1871 plus the “Adjustments Preferences” column on the AMT Depreciation Report ($1001).

This number is too high. We are not subject to AMT. Why is TurboTax adding the two numbers together to get Current Depreciation? It is NOT appearing on Line 18 of Schedule E, that is zero. Will this distort our total unallowed accumulated depreciation at all?  We are about to sell the property in 2026.

Thanks!
