I uploaded tax info from my State Municipal Fund exempt interest dividends and Turbo Tax went from getting $800 back to owing $900. It is all in my current state.

Line 10 is $10,600 exempt dividends on a total income of 48,000.

When you are entering your municipal bond interest on your Federal return, you need to indicate the state(s) that it came from. In your case, you would enter your state on line 1 and the whole amount in the other box on line 1.

This will keep Turbo Tax from carrying the amount over to your state return as a taxable addition.
