Question

I keep getting taken to a Schedule E worksheet though I have not rented my home. I type in zero, but TT keeps wanting me to review it. What do I do?

I was unable to duplicate what is happening in your tax return. You will need to delete the form from your tax return.

  1. Delete the worksheet by accessing the Forms in your return.
  2. Select Schedule E and Click on Delete Form in the lower part of the page
  3. Select Sch E Wks and Delete that as well

Deleting things in forms mode is not always enough. Do it in step-by-step mode.

- Under the Personal Income tab elect to start/update Rental & Royalty Income (SCH E).

- "Do you want to review your rental and royalty information?" Select YES.

 - For Real Estate Professional, select None of the above, and continue.

 - This takes you to the Rental & Royalty Summary screen. Click the Delete button next to whatever is listed there, click YES to confirm the delete, then click the DONE button. That does it. If you don't have any rental property or royalty income to report, make sure you never enter the rental/royalty income section again.
