Should oil & gas mineral royalties be filed under 1099s or mineral royalties? you prompts are confusing me.

Should oil & gas mineral royalties be filed under 1099s or mineral royalties? you prompts are confusing me.

You may enter Form 1099-MISC for royalties under the 1099 section or under Rental & Royalty Properties (Schedule E).

However, we recommend that you enter all the income and expenses for your royalty property in the Schedule E section. This avoids possible duplication or mis-reporting of income.
