Won't let me file because "Royalties must be reported as separate properties on Schedule E" I have no royalties. It won't accept $0. Won't let me file AFTER paying.

I am getting an error trying to file. It says "fix my Federal/California return". Then takes me to Line 4-Royalty Income and says "Income from rental real estate and income from royalties must be reported as separate properties on schedule E" except nowhere in my entire return have I reported Royalties. And it won't accept 0.

Delete the Schedule E for royalty income.

Click on Tax Tools on the left side of the online program screen

Click on Tools

Click on Delete a form

Note - There may be multiple pages of your tax return forms and schedules so click on the page number or right arrow (>) shown at the bottom of the federal tax return forms.

Already did that and started the form from scratch. No change, same error.

@amandaca97 OK, then there must be a Schedule E still in your return if you are getting this error.

Go to the Rentals & Royalties section and remove the Schedule E shown on the Summary screen.
