You will need to make your entries in the Rental property section of the program under expenses. You will need to enter the depreciation in the assets section.
To do this, log back into TurboTax.
- Select Federal and then Income.
- Select Add/Edit to the right of Rental Properties and Royalties (Sch E).
- Select the pencil icon next to the applicable property. This should take you to the screen that lists all of your income and expenses.
- Scroll down to the Assets section and select the pencil icon to the right of the applicable assets. If you do not see the Assets section, select Add expense or asset and proceed to follow the instructions to add your assets.
Just a note, if your rental property was placed in service in 2024 and if you did not include your assets then, you may need to amend your 2024 tax return to add the assets so your 2024 tax return is accurate.
