Venture capital investment tax credit. Can I claim a $5k as an investment loss for 2017 for company that filed bankruptcy after they disappeared without notice?

I invested $5000 in NICO WORLWIDE five years ago.  The company didn't keep shareholders informed, then vacated their office without notice and disappeared.  I few months ago I received a letter that they filed bankruptcy and all of shareholders are SOL.   The primary player left town and fell off the planet.  Can I claim that as an investment loss for 2017 and where would I enter that?  Thank you

You can take this loss at the point where you know the investment has lost all value, so yes, you could claim this loss in 2017.

Where would that loss be entered in the Home and Business product?
