Sold shares Custodial Account?

My son is 19 years old is a full time college student and  works part time and made over the $6200 so he will be filing his own return but not claiming himself as we are claiming him on our (parents) tax return. We sold shares out of his custodial account to pay for college, who files this him or patents?

Sold shares Custodial Account?

If the custodial account has your son's Social Security number on it, which it should, then the sale of shares has to be reported on his tax return.
