In Turbotax Deluxe this year, there is no way I can see to manually enter capital losses without a 1099B. There is no where that I can enter manually. I skipped the import but it still asks me for bank or brokerage. I'm trying to report manually private shares I invested in with private startups.
I was able to do this in prior years with TurboTax Delux
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
For a capital loss carryover -
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Under Investment Income
On Capital Loss Carryover, click the start or update button
Thanks but it's not a capital loss carry over from 2024. It's new capital loss for 2025.
I tried what you suggested and it did not work.
To enter an investment sale other than from a brokerage account (1099-B), follow the steps below.
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home and Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home and Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
Under Investment Income
On Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other, click the start or update button
Using the desktop editions -
On the next screen click on Yes
On the next screen click on Add investments
On the next screen Skip Import
On the next screen click on Other and continue
Thank you.
Prior, for the last step, I clicked Stocks instead of Other and Continue.
Very bad UI/UX by Intuit.
