Question on inherited savings bonds?

My mother passed away in 2013 and and as  the only heir, I inherited her estate. Turns out she had paper savings bonds that matured in 2010-2016. Do I file an amended return for all years (can TurboTax do that?) or what do I do about the years she was still alive and I technically didn’t own the bonds?

Question on inherited savings bonds?

No, you do not amend your income tax returns. You only enter the bond income in the year they were cashed in. Your financial institution will send you a Form 1099-INT and you will report the interest on your income tax return.

Since your mother did not cash in her bonds, before she passed away, they are not reported on her income tax return.
