Our rental caught fire in October, we lost all furniture, household items, clothing, electronics, dvds, as well as our pets. how do I claim this on our taxes?

To enter a Casualty or Theft loss using Form 4684 -

• Click on Federal Taxes
• Click on Deductions and Credits
• Click on I'll choose what I work on (if shown)
• Scroll down to Other Deductions and Credits
• On Casualties and Thefts, click on the start or update button

Or enter casualty loss in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen.  Click on Jump to casualty loss

what if u gave everything away because you and ur daughter are severely allergic to black mold and the apartment u rented had it in the air conditioner so bad you could see it growing on the vents. can i claim it n if so bn that i gave anything that was worth anything like brand new 50" smart television, plus another year ol' 42" smart tv, brand new queen size pillow top mattress, computers, clothes, everything should i claim it as donations and wud i need proof of these donations?
