My rental income is not shown in Social Security Statement (Your Earnings Record) thus not getting any social security credits. Why not?

my rental income is the only income I have.

My rental income is not shown in Social Security Statement (Your Earnings Record) thus not getting any social security credits. Why not?

Unfortunately, rental property income is not considered Wages (unless you qualify as a real estate professional). As a passive activity (not wages), rental income is not subject to self-employment taxes, which includes Social Security. For this reason, rental income is not reported to the SSA as income.

Unfortunately, rental property income is not considered Wages (unless you qualify as a real estate professional). As a passive activity (not wages), rental income is not subject to self-employment taxes, which includes Social Security. For this reason, rental income is not reported to the SSA as income.
