Moved to a new state during the last 6 months of 2016 and now rent an apartment? Do I need to enter anything differently?

Yes.  You will have to enter information on your old and new resident states. During the interview in TurboTax, you will be asked to enter your state of residence on December 31, 2016 as well as your previous state of residence. 

You can go back to check your entries by following these steps:

1.  Click on the Personal Info tab.

2.   In the first section (containing your name) click on Edit[See Screenshot #1, below.]

3.   On the Your Personal info screen, go to Section 2, Tell us the state(s) you lived in. [Screenshot #2]

4.   Select the state you lived in on December 31, 2016 from the drop-down list.

5.  You will then be asked if you lived in another state in 2016.  Mark the Yes radio button and select the previous state of residence from the drop down list.

6.  Enter the date you  became a resident of your current state.

7.  Click Continue when finished.
