Moved out of my only house 7/1/16 and rented it 8/1/16. Can I claim the total mortgage interest on 1098 or do I have ot prorate it?

You should pro-rate it. Claim 7 months (which includes all of July) as a personal itemized deduction, and 5 months as a rental expense.
