Missed Passive Loss from rental property for the year 2019, since I had an agent doing taxes until 2019 and I switched to Turbo tax in 2020. How to include that now?

2019 was the first year I rented the rental property that I own. For year 2019 I had an agent doing taxes and he calculated the rental loss. I switched to Turbo tax in 2020.  I didn't know about adding prior year losses. For this year 2021, I noticed Turbo Tax brought the losses from 2020, thats how I learnt that prior year losses are needed to be on the form. How I can add the losses for year 2019 now?

You will be able to add the Passive Activity Losses in the Forms mode in TurboTax Desktop.

1. Search in forms for Schedule E Wks for the rental property

2. Scroll down the worksheet until you get to Carryovers to the 2021 Smart Worksheet. Enter your passive activity losses on line G, Schedule E Suspended Loss. Be sure to enter the passive activity loss as a negative amount.

3. Click on "Step-by-Step" in the upper right-hand corner to return to the program.

Nice answer but the user is posting from the ONLINE version.

@vikas-yadav

You should amend the 2020 return to add the passive loss carryforward and then you will have the correct amount to carryforward to the 2021 return.

And where to add the carryover losses ... in the Rental section interview look for this screen :
