In my sales section for stocks are my short-term basis reported to IRS covered or non covered how do I determine this?

Covered means your 1099-B has the basis listed. Non-covered means the basis is not listed, you are entering the information.

there will be a statement on the 1099-B whether they are covered or uncovered. unsure, call the broker.
