Was this done in a rental you own? A business you own? Your primary residence to pay rent for? Your primary residence you own?  It's not clear because you've posted in the rental and investments section of this forum. I can't comprehend a need for a "special effects shop" in rental property you own, and I can't fathom it as an investment in the general sense of what an "investment" is.

It might be a repair expense. It might be a property improvement. It's important that you classify it correctly. Proper classification depends on why you did this, where you did this, and for what purpose you did this.  Proper reporting depends on if this was for a business you own, or something else.
