In 2016, I had stock shares granted from my employer. In 2017, 5 of these shares were distributed. Taxes withheld, net 3 shares. Do I need to report on my taxes?

Yes.  All income needs to be reported on your taxes.  There is no minimum amount.

However, this information may be reported on your W-2 and unless you sold the shares, you need do no more for reporting for 2017.

I found a separate pay advice for this transaction with $0 net pay.  Just showed taxes withheld.
