How much of my rent can I claim as a someone who works from home?

If you have a home office used regularly and exclusively for your business and is your principal place of business., you can complete Form 8829, Expenses for Business Use of Your Home. The portion of your rent that you can deduct for your home office is based on the square footage of your office in comparison to the square footage of your entire home.  Once you put those numbers in, TurboTax will automatically calculate the deductible portion of your rent on Form 8829.
