If I replace the roof of my rental house, can I claim it as an expense? even thou my Insurance covered it?

In your rental section of TurboTax, any expense you paid that was reimbursed (in your case by insurance) it has to be reduced by the reimbursement.  So if the roof cost you more than the insurance company paid it fix it, those additional costs can be deducted on your tax return.
