I sold rental property in 2018, where would I enter this information, along with settlement cost paid out?

My screen shows you're using the online version of Premier. So if you're reporting the sale of a property you sold in 2018, that can't be. The online version of the program can only be used for a 2019 tax return. If you sold the property in 2018, then that has to be reported on your 2018 tax return. If you are just now working on your 2018 tax return, you *MUST* use the CD version of TTX 2018 that you install on your computer. So can you clarify here? Maybe you sold the property in 2019 and your post mention of 2018 is a typo? Or maybe you are working on your 2018 taxes using the CD version of TTX 2018, yet incorrectly indicated in your profile this year that you're using the online version?

Bottom line is, you can't report the 2018 sale on your 2019 tax return. So what's the scoop here?

Two answers:

1. If you sold in 2019, follow these steps on how to report a rental house sold.

Be sure to mark all assets and the house as sold as you go through the program.

2. If you sold in 2018, you will need to either prepare or amend.

file an amended return - how to amend

track an amended return
