I sold my house/partial rental in 2017. I did not rent it in 2017. It no longer shows. What happened to the carryover losses from past years, they no longer apply?

Rented a part of my house for 11 years.  Losses always carried over.  Sold the house in 2017, did not rent it in 2017.  Carryovers seemed to have been wiped out on Turbotax Is that correct?

You'll need to claim your home as a rental until the date of sale, which will allow the losses to be carried forward. You can edit the rental profile information to change your dates to include 2017.

You don't need to report income or operating expenses, but you can report expenses related to maintaining the property while preparing to sell.
