I sold a home in 2017 which was my primary residence with a rented room to my son. Net gain was $75k. Can I still claim rental deductions with the capital gain exemption?

Yes, if the business or rental space was physically part of the living area of your home, such as a spare room rented or attic space used as a home office, your business usage doesn’t affect your gain/loss calculations.
