I messed up and documented the sale of a rental property. Later I correctly entered the sale as a like-kind exchange. Now I am unable to find and delete the mess up...?

If you meant by removing the sale of rental, here are the steps (online):

• Sign into your account, select Take me to my return
• To your left, select Tax Tools, click on the drop-down arrow
• Select Tools
• Under Other helpful links, choose Delete a form
• Scroll down the list to locate the Form 4797, select Delete and Continue with My Return
