I'm trying to enter my Lyft Express rental cars into the section where I can deduct my gas expenses, but I keep getting an error message. What am I doing wrong?

It asked for the date that I "sold or stopped using" the car and I put in the date that I returned the car to Hertz. A message came up at the end of the section that I can not put in a sold date for a car that I didn't own. I tried removing the date that I stopped using the car, but I was still unable to get passed this section.

Under the vehicle section of the program you do not enter in your rental car there. This section is for people who own their cars (either making payments or lease).

You would enter in the car rental and gas as an expense on the Schedule C (where you list your other expenses).

Delete the car information entirely out of where you are and move on from this section and enter the expenses under the expense part of the Schedule C.

This should have you righted.
