I'm filing a simple return, income only no deductions. I have a Substitute 1099-Misc form, Box 2 Royalties for 522.79. Where do I list this?

You will list this your royalty income under the other common income section of your return. It will then be listed on line 21 of federal schedule 1.

Follow the directions below to enter your royalty income.

  1. Log in and click take me to my return (unless already in).
  2. Click the Federal tab from the left-side menu.
  3. On the next screen, scroll down to see all income and click Show More beside Other Common Income.
  4. Click Start beside Form 1099-MISC
  5. On the next screen, enter the information from your 1099-MISC and click continue.
  6. Continue through the income input screens to complete filing your royalty income.

Note: See my (screenshots) below for reference.

Alternatively, you can use the search feature of TurboTax to get to the royalty income input screen.

  1. Log in and click take me to my return (unless already in).
  2. Click the Search box in the top right corner, type 1099-MISC, and click the "Jump to 1099-MISC" link in the search results.
  3. On the next screen, enter the information from your 1099-MISC and click continue.
  4. Continue through the income input screens to complete filing your royalty income.
