I have filled all questions on rental. Why nothing shows up in this section to fill out depreciation information? My form4562 doesn't have depreciation lines filled.

I've provided all info related to the property, but it doesn't ask me for cost basis, asset life years, depreciation amount at all. The state tax return form asked these questions instead. Why it doesn't exist on Federal return?

Go through your tax return to enter your assets following the steps below.

  1. Select Rental Properties and Royalties > Update > Select 'None of the above' for Real Estate Pro
  2. Select Edit/Pencil beside Property one
  3. Select Update/Revisit/Start beside Assets (you may have to select add more expenses to view/find Assets)
  4. Edit/Update/Start your first Asset (Residential Rental Real Estate) > Continue to finish
  5. Repeat to add each additional asset if you have more than the rental home
  6. Select Done with Rental Property > Continue until you reach Rental and Royalty Summary

Please update if you have more questions or need additional assistance.

Thank you for the guidance, but I don't see "update" after I select "rental properties and royalties". I use premium do it yourself.

Try these steps.

In TurboTax Online, enter the rental activity assets by following these steps:

  • Down the left side of the screen, click on Federal.
  • Down the left side of the screen, click on Income.
  • Scroll down to Rentals, Royalties, and Farm.  Click down arrow to the right.
  • Click to the right of Rental Properties and Royalties.
  • At the screen Your 2025 rentals and royalties summary, click the pencil icon to the right of the rental.
  • At the screen Here's rental property info, click the pencil icon to the right of Assets.
  • At the screen XXX depreciable assets, click Add.

Rental property income is reported on Schedule E Supplemental Income and Loss.  See also this TurboTax Help
