I earned 3x more income and bought a house this year. I only received $288 more on my return this year. Am I not correctly filling out a section?

Though I do not know the particulars of your return, it's possible your increased earnings in 2018 may have put you into a higher tax bracket than last year.  If you are unsure whether your return is reflecting the property amounts of income and deductions, go back through the return and revisit your entries.
