I converted my residence to rental property in 2017. Can I claim 100% of the 2016 property tax as a 2017 deduction since the property was my principal residence in 2016?

Yes, if you paid the 2016 property taxes in 2017, you can deduct on Schedule A because it was your personal residence that the taxes paid.  Be sure to keep a copy of the property tax bills with your tax records.

Thank you!  I'm also a little confused on how to report the Mortgage Interest.  I have a 1098 but don't think I should enter in it the Deductions.  The Property was our Primary Residence Jan-Feb, Vacant Mar-Jul, and Rented Aug-Dec...  I can put 40% of the expense into the Rental area but what would I do with the expense for the 2 months it was our residence?
