How do I report the sale of shares of a privately held company I sold in 2025? I I will not receive a confirmation (1099) from the buyer. How do I enter this in TurboTax?

The sale of shares in a privately held company is entered as an Investment Sale in TurboTax. 

1. Open or continue your return.
2. Navigate to the investment sales section:
   • TurboTax Online/Mobile: Go to investment sales.
   • TurboTax Desktop: Search for investment sales and then select the Jump to link.
3. Answer Yes if you see the question Did you sell any of these investments in 2025?
4. If you land on the Investment sales summary or Your investments and savings screen, select Add More Sales or Add investments.
5. Follow the onscreen instructions to skip import, choose Other, and enter the sale information yourself.
