How do I report interest, dividends and rental from foreign investment / property. There is no 1099 issued for this income

Please report your foreign interest as if you received form 1099-INT and foreign dividends as if you received 1099-DIV.  If you paid any foreign taxes on interest and dividends, be sure to enter them in boxes specified in the respective forms. As to the rental property, please report the rental income in the rental section as usual.  When asked to enter address of the rental, you will be able to indicate foreign address. There is no difference for tax purposes based on the rental's property location, the rules for domestic and foreign properties are the same.

  1. Federal Taxes
  2. Wages & Income
  3. Interest and Dividends - select Interest on 1099-INT, and Dividends on 1099-DIV

Rental income:

  1. Federal Taxes
  2. Wages & Income
  3. Rental Properties and Royalties

Once all your income is entered, please visit Foreign Tax Credit section if you paid any foreign taxes on either of your above income.  You will be asked about INT and DIV first, rental income foreign tax credit appears later in the interview:

  1. Federal Taxes
  2. Deductions & Credits
  3. Scroll down to Estimates and Other Taxes Paid, select Foreign Taxes
