If you had a capital loss on investments, you'll see the figure (up to the $3000 annual limit) displayed on line 13 of the 1040. If your loss exceeded $3000, the remainder will carry over to next year. You'll want to write that carryover amount down on paper and keep it in your tax file to keep track of it.
To see the 1040 form, go into the upper margin of your screen and click on My Account. From the dropdown menu select Tools, then click on the first item in the list of Other Helpful Links, View Tax Summary. Next, look above the summary page and click on Preview My 1040. That will load the 2-page 1040 and you can verify the figure on line 13.
