Hi, I am a professor and received 1099 MISC reporting $976 royalties from a publisher of a textbook I co-authored. I am not in the business of writing books.

Am I considered self-employed (should use Schedule C), or this income would be considered as royalty for Schedule E?

This is a royalty and goes on Schedule E. It should be reported in Box 2, not box 7
