Enter it as a sale for $0, like if you got a 1099B for it.
Federal Taxes on left or Personal (Home & Business)
Wages & Income (Personal Income)
Then scroll down to Investment Income
Then Stocks, Cryptocurrency, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other (1099-B) - click Start
Then click +Add Investments at the bottom
Then Import your info OR Skip Import at the bottom
Then pick box Stocks, Bonds, Mutual Funds - then Continue
Enter the bank or broker or the name (it's not important what you put)
Answer some general questions and Continue
Then Continue a couple more screens and you finally get to the 1099B entry screen.

yes, as crazy as a drunken loon. they rewrote the interface for many items in the 2024 versions for which I give them an F-. shouldn't have changed. oh well, we'll have to see if they further muck up the app for 2025 and I'm not even referring to W11.
