Do I need to issue a 1099-misc to a contractor for my rental property?

We had contractors repair and upgrade our rental property last year. Do we need to issue them 1099-misc?

Yes, that response still applies. You are basically treated as an individual in terms of your rental business and do not have to issue a 1099-misc. much like if you had work done at your own home.

@TurboTaxAshby thank you Ashby. We also paid the lawyer. Only amount exceeding 600 needs 1099-MISC, correct? We only paid $400. Can we deduct the $400 then? (We have the receipt.)
