Can I deduct the cost of a new computer as Misc Expense against rental property?

Yes, you can deduct the cost of the computer you use for your rental, but not as a miscellaneous expense. You would enter it as an asset of the rental and depreciate it over time or take advantage of the Section 179 deduction that will allow you to write-off the entire cost in the first year of use.  For information about Section 179 deduction, see the information below. https://ttlc.intuit.com/replies/5387864

Yes, you can deduct the cost of the computer you use for your rental, but not as a miscellaneous expense.
