Can I deduct expenses to move out old furnitures to prepare property for rent?

The apartment was my primary residence before I relocated to another city last year and being a rental property since.

At the time I moved out I hired moving company to deliver furnitures to friends' home as gift (all are within 20 miles).

Can I deduct the moving expenses as rental expenses?

As these expenses are incurred in preparing your property for rental before the property was put on the rental market,  you cannot deduct them as part of your rental expenses.
